Difference between PURE-DOS and the Windows Dos-Box

PURE DOS is the operating mode which is available before the graphical user interface.
You can select this mode by pressing the Key-F8 after the BIOS post is finished.
In this mode only filenames can be transfered which are using the 8.3 file format.
Hint: If you want to transfer files with long filenames, we appologise the use of packers, who can pack them inclusive the long filenames (e.G. Winzip). -> zip under Windows(sender), -> Transfer unter DOS -> unzip under Windows(receiver).
Die parameters for the filetransfer under PURE DOS are the same as the WINDOWS-DOSCOMMAND/CMD-BOX.

The Windows (95/98) Dos-Box is the commandline interface, which can be run parallel to other applications.
Start a Dos-Box under Windows 9x by Start->Run and by typing command
Start a CMD-Box under Win NT/2000 by Start->Run and by typing cmd .
In these modes long filenames are available.
